<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Twenty nine years ago today David and I were blessed with a son, Matthew David. I thought he'd never get here. Three and a half weeks past his due date, he finally decided it was time, 7 lbs 10 1/2 oz, 21" long, a little bit of blond hair and big, blue eyes. He has grown into a fine, handsome, young man and his dad and I couldn't be more proud !</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Last weekend we went to some sales and an auction. Found a few things at some garage sales and tried really hard to get some neat garden and architectural pieces at the auction. We came away with just a few things, it was a tough crowd. Most of the really cool garden stuff we wanted went to a guy that owned a big garden nursery in Indianapolis and was going to use it for his displays. At the end of the day we came away with a great old gate, trellis, an old red & white quilt, a child's tea set and a few other smalls. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a difficult post.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are my mother's hands. Strong, tender, loving. I held them for the last time the evening of November 25th, 2012 when I kissed her good night and told her "good night mom, I'll see you in the morning, I love you"</div>
<div align="center">
She and my dad taught myself, my brothers and sisters to be independent, responsible people and that we could do anything we wanted to do if we set our minds to it. We didn't make it easy for them.</div>
<div align="center">
For myself, my mom gave me a love for antiques and the needle arts and taught me how to do most of them well at an early age. She made my school dresses, shorts and tops for the summer, and while she did that, I started sewing my dolls dresses. As I grew older, she became a Girl Scout Leader of my sisters troop and<em> </em>I learned more. Cooking, baking and making my own clothes. The more I grew, the closer we became. She was my best friend. </div>

<div align="center">
In honor of my mom, I will be giving away this vintage silver plated heart necklace made by my other half, David. She would have loved this one, heck she loved all the necklaces David made for her, but since she is no longer here for us to give this to her, we will pass it along to another to love and/or share. It's our way of telling my mom Happy Mother's Day !</div>
<div align="center">
All you have to do is first go give your mom a hug or call her and tell her you love her, then comment on and/or follow my blog. For a second chance, like or comment on my facebook page here: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/As-The-Crow-Flies/142458498455">https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/As-The-Crow-Flies/142458498455</a></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Spent the weekend in Noblesville, IN setting up and selling at A Simpler Thyme Primitive Show with a good friend and coheart Jill from ForeverMore Antiques in Georgetown, IL. It was good to catch up with friends and make new ones We set our booth up differently than we normally do. Added a porch this time. Turned out ok, but still needs some tweeking for the next time. All in all, a pretty good weekend ! Here are a few shots of our booth before we opened.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It's been a couple of years.</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> When I first started this blog, I was just getting into facebook, websites, picturetrail and then decided I should add a blog. It seemed a natural course of progression and I thought I might have something to write about that someone might find interesting enough to read. Then I got cold feet, didn't think I had enough to say and as I perused all the other wonderful blogs I liked to visit and read, felt like I couldn't begin to compete in the blogosphere. What did I think I was doing ? Over the past couple of years, alot has happened and I have often clicked on this here little blog of mine and felt I started this, why can't I continue it and not worry about comparing my blog, writing or photography skills to all the other beautiful blogs I read ? I would get cold feet again and felt like I really didn't know what the heck I was doing anyway, so I won't go there.</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> And I haven't for over 2 years .... until now.</span><span style="font-family: Verdana;"> </span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">In my first post, I said I wanted to start the year off looking forward to good times in a difficult economy and so I entered into this technical world with high hopes. I have secretly followed many wonderful blogs and although I am not the writer, designer or decorator that they are, I figured I could give it a shot. </span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;">So that's what I'm going to do. Give this blog another shot, have another go at it and start using those crayons that God gave me to start coloring outside the lines again and do my best to come out the other side all the better for it. I still have alot to learn here again and I hope y'all out there will come along for the ride with me !</span></div>

I'll post pictures and tell you about the antique shows we do as well as some of the things my other half, David, and I make. My mother-in-law in the emergency room - twice, then my mom in the emergency room to put stitches in her arm and then a fire. They are fine and the fire could have been so much worse ... a smaller outbuilding and then it had started on the big barn when the fire department arrived. We weren't at home and our son was at work. I am so thankful that we have great, watchful neighbors out here in the country. Our neighbor's grandson (they are about 1/4 mile from the crossroad) saw the smoke and alerted his grandmother. When we arrived home, nothing of the building or it contents and surroundings were left, just flat and black. Fortunately no one was hurt, it was just material things, some of which can be replaced, others can not. Our son had stored some things from his room when he left for school, and him and his dad had stored part of a 20 year collection of fly fishing rods, reels, lures and old boat motors.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Things can change in a heartbeat, in the blink of an eye, and when you aren't looking, what seems like a bad dream, with God's saving grace, turns into a blessing. He is amazing!</div><br />

A good time was had catching up with friends. We opened without any rain and had a great, productive day and alot of laughter. Here is a peek at our booth and you can see more pictures of the show at Bev's picturetrail <a href="http://www.picturetrail.com/sheepsinn">here</a>.</div><br />
Last weekend, June 12 & 13, we set up at "A Country Gathering Show" in Elizabethtown, IN. Although it rained buckets and buckets and stormed every evening and morning, the sun managed to come out in the afternoon and made for some good sales. Here are a few peeks at that booth.<br />

Good auctions and estates sales have been few and far between this winter. A couple more weeks and they should be in full swing. I can't hardly wait.<br />David found an old wallpapering table with a galvanized top that will make a great gardening table after he reworks the bottom a bit. He also came up with a couple of very large old cutting boards that he'll use for tops on a table, one I'm hoping, may work as a small tilt top.<br />He needs to come across a nice old box that will work for a garden cart. Every spring he usually comes up with one and turns it into something wonderful. This one is from last spring and quickly found a new home. All the hardware is old and rusted including the nuts and bolts, otherwise they just don't look right. This one even had a removeable end in case you left the pumpkins in there to long and they had to be shoveled out. Not saying I've ever done that....</p><p align="center"><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF2UfeLTCspto7YQTGGflpGpjkmwDV8TulHGGzVD8cF_4-HJc32K99Qjw7H7Q3FfXW0cNZtKLe1_nE6X9dgFRuCiHj6pwT2FLTRxFt7cCQO18R7a4POnCRJOsX7XjhLPRyVHwlMBy5-s1n/s1600/DSC04312.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453716078573208610" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF2UfeLTCspto7YQTGGflpGpjkmwDV8TulHGGzVD8cF_4-HJc32K99Qjw7H7Q3FfXW0cNZtKLe1_nE6X9dgFRuCiHj6pwT2FLTRxFt7cCQO18R7a4POnCRJOsX7XjhLPRyVHwlMBy5-s1n/s320/DSC04312.JPG" border="0" /></a>I came across a nice old big wood bowl that had been shellacked or polyurethaned, so I'll sand it and get it painted. A bit out of my comfort zone and nervous. A natural progression I suppose from my picturetrail site, to facebook, a new website, and a new etsy site, mostly done in an effort to bring in income. </span></div><br /><div align="center">I wanted to start this year off looking forward to good times in a difficult economy and so I have entered into this technical world with high hopes. I have secretly followed many wonderful blogs and although I am not the writer, designer or decorator that they are, I figure I can give it shot. </div><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family:georgia;">The plan is for this to be another venue for selling the things that my husband, David and I make and we'll see where it goes from there. </span></div><br /><div align="center">Our love for antiques is primarily country painted primitives and folk art, although we also have a weakness for the old lodge style look of hickory furniture, camp blankets, antlers and all that it encompasses. We do a few primitve shows and have a room at The Vinton House Antiques which is an old brick hotel that is now an antique shop devoted to country primitive antiques. My first steps into the world wide web was a <a href="http://www.picturetrail.com/thecrowsnest">picturetrail </a>site, then facebook to post updates for the picturetrail. Just recently I decided to take a huge leap and make a <a href="http://www.theonecrowsnest.com/">website</a> and then I added etsy. All a work in progress</div><br /><div align="center">David is a wood carver and in the past was chosen as one of America's top 200 artists by Early American Life, a metal worker as well as my go to man for repairs and make-do's. I love the needle arts in the form of rug hooking and samplers and have been sewing since I was just a wee one thanks to my mother. </div><br /><div align="center">Between the two of us and the God given talents we were blessed with, we have weathered down turns in the economy and job layoffs over the past 30 years and we will continue forward with the faith that we will all weather this economic storm and come out the other side all the better for it. </div><br /><div align="center">So....here's to moving forward, to coloring outside the lines and thanking God for the crayons!</div>As The Crow Flieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10593867211424504094noreply@blogger.com0
